Remember: English words do not end in q u v j or i. So ow and aw are found anywhere in words, but au and ou are not at the end.

ou : out found

ou has a second sound as in: cousin double nourish country.

ow : owl crowd now

ow has a second sound as in: snow pillow bowl own.

au: August laundry

aw : awful lawn draw

The au/aw sound is also spelt al as in: talk (t-al-k) and ball (b-al-l.)

In some words the l is sounded: always also.
